Tirunesh Dibaba is an all time great. Multiple world and Olympic champion with world records to show for it. As a young athlete your interest should be in learning from her.
She competes in the 5,000 and 10,000m long distance races and has recently switched to the marathon races.
She is the 10th and final athlete we would look at in our series of African legends who came from nothing and achieved great things in the world of sports.
Like most great athletes, she started young but what made the difference for her was having an outstanding coach.
A coach is very important to your success in sports as a young athlete. Tirunesh Dibaba not only had a great coach but she learnt the fundamentals of her sport early.
To succeed in sports and learn from a great like Tirunesh Dibaba, you must have someone guiding you the right way and also know what makes your sport tick.
On today’s episode of Athlete Maestro we sign off this series in style but looking at a living legend, the lessons you can learn from her and how to apply it to your own career.
Remember, knowing is not enough you must apply, willing is not enough you must do.
