Understanding And Optimizing Your Body For Performance with Sports Physio Kulthoum Bakare

Being a great athlete is much more than having just the technical qualities to play your sport. First and foremost your body must be optimized to perform the sport.

In football, you play for 90mins on the weekend with multiple training sessions during the week. Your favourite basketball stars in the NBA play 82 games a season. Track and field athletes have to be extremely strong to be their sports.

Like I always say, there’s no sport that doesn’t have a fitness element to it. Your body must be able to handle the rigours of sports.

In addition to the fitness aspect, you also have the injury aspect of sports. A great athlete is one is prepares their body to avoid injuries.

This is one of the areas sports physiotherapy comes in. Many young athletes don’t even know who or what a Sports Physio does until they get injured. You think you need to see a physio only when you’re injured or when there’s something wrong.

Guess what? That’s medicine after death. A sports physio is super important to the career of an athlete and in this episode you’ll learn why.

Kulthoum (KT) Bakare is a Board Certified Sports Physiotherapist. She has a Masters in Sports and Orthopedic Physiotherapy and is currently undergoing her Doctorate as well.
