Kirsty Coventry is the darling of African swimming. She succeeded where many before her had failed and she excelled.
She is the 9th African great we would look at in this series of African legends who have done great things in the world of sports.
For any young girl out there Kirsty Coventry is a perfect role mode. She started swimming at a very young age and used the tools at her disposal to achieve success.
For every young athlete out there who thinks you must be in Europe or America before you can succeed in sports, think again. When Kirsty Coventry was living and training in Zimbabwe she qualified for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
What better way to start your journey in sports.
It’s very important to have a strong foundation and to start with what you have. Zimbabwe is a poverty stricken country but that never stopped Kirsty Coventry from succeeding.
That’s why I think she’s a perfect role model for you today.
On this episode of Athlete Maestro, you’ll learn about her career, the obstacles she had to overcome and the lengths she had to go to become an Olympic Champion.
Remember, knowing is not enough you must apply, willing is not enough you must do.
