If you want to start a business, there are fundamentals to follow. If you want to master a particular sport, there are fundamentals to follow. Same thing if you want to construct a building there are fundamentals to follow.
Its no different when you come to medicine and doctors.
What should you then focus on in developing fundamentals in sports? That’s where my guest on the podcast today comes in.
As much as i can, i always try to learn. I try to always improve myself and i’m sure you do too, otherwise you won’t be listening to a podcast like this.
So when the opportunity presents itself to learn about anything including developing fundamentals in sports from someone who is experienced and well respected, then its an opportunity to grab with both hands, utilize and take advantage of.
This week on the podcast i had the legend John O’Sullivan on to talk about developing fundamentals in children and sports and getting it right as a young athlete.
John is the founder of Changing The Game, a movement built to transform youth and high school sports by educating and empowering parents, coaches and youth organizations. Basically to do the right thing as it relates to young athletes and youth sports.
John is also the host of the Way of Champions Podcast. A stellar podcast that delves into many of the things we talk about today.
John has been featured on CNN, ESPN, NBS Sports just to name a few. He definitely knows his stuff which is why i said he’s a legend.
To add to that, John also has 20+ years experience playing and coaching football (soccer in the US). He knows the practical and theory parts of sports.
I’ve been following John a while now and he’s one of my mentors, so it was a pleasure to have him on the podcast and learn from him.
As a young footballer, if you want to develop the fundamentals and get ready for a professional career then this episode is for you.
As a parent of a young athlete, who wants to know how to guide and nurture their talent in sports, this episode is also for you.
And if you’re not a footballer or a parent of a young athlete, you’ll still learn so many things from this episode.
If you loved this episode shoot me an email tola@athletemaestro.com and i’ll be sure to send John your love.
