The dream of every young athlete is to go professional in their sports. That’s the pinnacle for all the years of hard work and dedication. You see your name in bright lights and everything that comes with it.
Ofcourse you believe you have what it takes to become a pro athlete.
In that pursuit we’ve always heard the conventional path to pursuing sports dreams and how when you don’t follow that path, your chances of succeeding are next to none.
In football, you’ll usually hear, if you haven’t made it by this age, your chances of making it are next to nothing.
Then you have my guest on the podcast today. You see like many boys he wanted to play professional sports. It won’t be until his teens that he’ll decide to focus on Football (Soccer).
Going by the conventional path, his chances of making it as a Footballer was supposed to be next to nothing because when he was done in College he was in his 20s. Guess what? He didn’t believe that shit and he created his own path.
He pursued his dreams as relentlessly as anyone I’ve ever seen.
Jay DeMerit is one of the most intellectual people I’ve ever met.
Jay is former Professional Footballer Player. He played for Watford FC in England and also represented his home country, the United States Of America at the highest level.
His journey to the top of the Football pyramid is a joy to listen to and Jay isn’t afraid to share.
To show you how inspirational Jay’s story is, a documentary, Rise and Shine was created about his career. Jay now guides the next generation of young athletes through his Leadership and Mentorship Programme, Captain’s Camps.
This episode will show you why its important to believe in your dreams but most importantly why you must give everything to make it happen. Dreams backed up with action.
Whether you’re a footballer or not, this episode will blow your mind.
If you loved this episode shoot me an email tola@athletemaestro.com and let me know what you learnt so I can forward your message to Jay.
