If you’re lucky, you’ll play your sport for 15 – 20 years. So, how can you maximize your career in sports while you have the time?
The flip side of the discussion is that when you’re done with your career, you’re then looking for things to do post sports. Many studies have shown that many athletes either suffer depression or go bankrupt just a few years after they retire from sports.
Why is this?
Its because they never prepared to transition to life after sports.
That why i was super excited to talk to Jared Johnston about maximizing your career and also preparing for life after sports.
Jared is a keynote speaker and an author but more importantly he was an athlete who has gone through this process. A standout student athlete at that.
I say he’s my brother from another mother because we share a similar sports journey.
I attempted to play professional sports but unfortunately i got injured.
You guessed right, Jared also wanted to play in the NFL but injuries and other things got in the way and he wasn’t able to realise that dream.
I knew from my experience that i wanted to help the athletes behind me which is why i started this podcast Athlete Maestro.
Jared didn’t start a podcast but he wrote a book, From Cleats to Loafers: And Everything In Between, basically detailing what that transition process looks like and how you can best prepare for it. It also helps you get better at sports.
On this episode you’ll learn exactly how you can maximize your sports career and at the same time prepare for life after sports.
