EPISODE FIFTY NINE
“There is a lot of pressure put on me but i don’t put pressure on myself, if i play my game it would take care of itself” – LeBron James
If there is one factor that affects how athletes perform on any stage, it is pressure. It is the determinant factor that separates the great athletes from the average athletes.
You see the kind of pressure LeBron James was under during last season’s NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors? That kind of pressure would destroy many athletes. Not because they choose to be destroyed by it but because they have failed to handle it the right way.
No athlete is immune to pressure. I have faced more pressure situations in my life than I can imagine. I have failed to handle some the right way, but as things have progressed I have handled it better and better.
And you can too.
Episode 59 teaches you how to handle pressure, the best way to approach it and how to come out victorious.
ACTION FOR TODAY
Make a list of the emotions that go through your mind during your performances, both positive and negative.
Now I want you to try to concentrate on the positives alone.
By concentrating on the positives alone, we rid our minds of thinking about what can go wrong. We focus rather on what can go right.
Begin practicing it today and apply all the other solutions from the episode above.
