We hear it all the time. Former world champion or former world record holder. Many times all of that is past glory in sports.
As a young athlete you must never be a former anything.
Condoleezza Rice said “i firmly believe that you should never spend your time being a former anything”
The athletes who always rely on former success are athletes who have no future ahead of them. Athletes who are insistent on past glory to cover up their lack of progress today.
As a young athlete your past successes, however small they might be, is probably part of what is holding you back from pushing forward and achieving more.
You think because you have done something before, it would make up for your lack of success in the future.
Past glory in sports would only last temporarily until people start asking questions about what you’re doing now.
So you were an outstanding junior or you were an outstanding college athlete or a high school sprint champion. No one can take that away from you, but what are you doing now.
Today’s episode of the show, I want to motivate you to think like a young athlete who values the future and wants to achieve great things in sports.
Remember, knowing is not enough you must apply, willing is not enough you must do.
