Populary known as El Phenomenon, Ronaldo De Lima was the youngest player to win the Ballon D’or before going on to win a further two footballer of the year prizes in what is still one of the most illustrious careers in all of sports.
His career taught us so much but more importantly how disappointments should never be an excuse in sports.
A mentor on the podcast today we look at some of the lessons we can learn from the man called the phenomenon.
Perhaps the most standout to take from De Lima’s can be found in the 1999/2000 season, upon earning a world record move to Inter Milan the Brazilian superstar tears all the ligaments in his knee.
If you have a better excuse i would love to hear it.
Off the back of a two and a half year injury, the kid from Brazil makes it back just in time to make the plan to the 2002 world cup Korea/Japan. Brazil win the world cup and the rest is history.
But here guys is the morale of the story, if you’re looking for an excuse you will find one. Disappointments should never be an excuse in sports that it deters your ambitions.
