Micheal Jordan said to be successful you have to be selfish or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don’t isolate.”

Most athletes have come across this question at one time or the other, is selfishness a negative in sports?

Its not a wrong question but like Jordan said, its something thats bound to come up. Whether because you want to make a good impression or you want to blend in, its a question many continue to ask.

As a young athlete this sounded pretty much like a paradox, but I knew there were lessons to be learned from arguably the greatest NBA player ever.

As a star athlete you may have had your coach, teammates and on lookers at times accuse you of being selfish. Hence creating a dilema for you to the extent that you risk losing your uniqueness.

Question is what does being selfish really mean and how do you find the balance. Is selfishness a negative in sports?
