Step #1: Diagnose the problem

I bet after your matches or games, you just go home and its on to the next thing. You put on the tv, grab some dinner and even put some music on.

You know what the best athletes do. Well, for them they have people analyse their immediate past performance and give them a dossier on what they did right and what they did wrong. Yes you don’t have the money yet but you can do this on your own.

The reason you’re struggling is because you don’t analyse your past performances. So you are struggling as an athlete because you keep doing things the way you have always done it.

Step #2: Create a Plan of action and a daily routine

The thought of planning to get out of the rut you are may make you yawn or make you want to close this page and just do things the way you have been doing them. But that’s why you’re where you are currently.

Coach John Wooden, the greatest basketball coach in NCAA history said “if fail to plan, you plan to fail”.

Let me ask you this. If you don’t have any money, do you create a plan to get money like get a job or start a business or do you think its irrelevant? I bet you devise a plan to get some money in ya pocket.

Its no different with being an athlete. Same thing. You plan.

It can be fun especially when you incorporate many of the things you already have on your schedule.

Good thing is you have been an athlete for some time so the process is not strange to you. What is different is that you now have a template to follow.

Step #3: Change your mentality

Change my mentality? Yes. Change it

Because you’ve been stuck in this position for some time, chances are you easily get frustrated. The slightest things cause you to believe its about to happen again. You’re back in the same spot.
